We are launching an international new magazine for new filmmakers at The Cannes Film Festival in May and are looking for your contributions and feedback. Tell us what/who you want to read about. We will be launching a unique short film project in issue one - so keep in touch.

If you would like to contribute to articles,
reviews, kit stories, etc, we'd love to hear from you??

Check out www.showreel.org and tell us your ideas

i'd like to read about myself, and others like me ;-)

i like reading about the application of technology in the film industry.

i like reading about filmmakers not scared to make a political statement.

i like laughing the film industy's self importance, especially issues of celebrity.

i like to keep updated on issues of copyright, distribution and duplication.

i like to know what's in production in my local area, or what's coming up.

i like candid interviews.

Sounds like wer'e on the right track here.

First (famous) director's interview will be Alan Parker who has, further to his latest film 'The Life of David Gale', rather a lot to say about the US death penalty. I'm sure by the launch we will have quite a lot to report on the impact of the siege of Iraq too.

The magazine is independent and will not pull-punches. There is a swear-box in our office for everytime the word celebrity is used in earnest.

I'd love to read stuff about no budgetp film-making. Because it's perfectly pheasable to make something without a budget. It's not something any other magazines ever seem to cover, yet I know most of us here strive to find ways to do things as cheaply as possible.

Oh and btw, how much will the magazine be? Will it be available in shops, or is this another internet venture?

No budget, guerilla filmmaking is at the heart of the mag. We will do our bit by persuading suppliers to include giveaways (watch this space) in future issues. Our technical editor (an independent himself) is, as we speak, working on this. Also, in a past life I was in charge of marketing and education at a leading suppliers see my article in the first issue " How to become an expert blagger?" - and, of course, as a bunch of seasoned journos we already are

The magazine is print (not web) and is funded by paid subscription (?20.00 per year). We are trying to avoid any advertising that would restrict our editorial stance - which is basically irreverent and independent.

We produce several other titles in the professional audio and video area - drop me line if you want me to send you any of these - gratis of course. see: www.mediashots.com

Please feel free to log on to the forum at www.showreel.org and tell us what you want.
